Day 01: AIRPORT – COLOMBO
Arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport. or Welcome and assist by representative/s of Vanguard Lanka Tours (Pvt) Limited. p.m. Transfer to Colombo. Stay the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner & Overnight stay at “Fairview Hotel” 4* (Colombo).
Day 02: COLOMBO – KOSGODA – BALAPITIYA – GALLE – WELIGAMA
Breakfast at the hotel. Leave for Kosgoda. Visit a Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda. Kosgoda is famous for its turtle hatcheries. They were established to protect Sri Lanka's turtles from extinction. The hatchery pays fishermen for eggs that they collect at night along the sandy beach. Visitors can see huge tanks filled with new born turtle hatchlings. After being fed, the baby turtles are taken to the sea and released when they are 2-4 days old, usually during the safer hours of darkness. Although October to April is the main laying season, some eggs can be found at Kosgoda throughout the year. Proceed to Balapitiya. Enjoy a River Safari in the Madhu River. River safari by boat fills your senses with a journey abound in splendorous natural beauty and knowledge of ecology which is also an enriching experience of cultural and historical value that will make a lasting mesmeric impression. The wetland of the Madu River holds a mangrove spread of close to 61 hectares. This natural wonder has proven of immense bio-ecological value with 14 out of the 24 varieties of mangroves of Sri Lanka being found in this environment. It was mentioned that there were 64 islands of Madu River in the past. “Maa Duwa” is the main human settlement island among them. Today it is reported that there are 25 Islands of Madu River. Many species of birds are found in the islands around the lagoon. In most of these islands there are people who earn their living by peeling cinnamon. Proceed to Galle. Make a visit to the Old Dutch Fort. A continuous rampart, built by the Dutch from the mid17thcentury onwards and added to by the British, encircles the city, interrupted by 14 massive bastions. Many of the old buildings within the Fort date from the Dutch era. Many of the streets still bear their Dutch names or their direct translations. The Dutch also built an integrate sewer system that was flushed out daily by the tide. There is a large Muslim community living and working inside the Fort, particularly at the southern end of the walled town. Continue journey to Weligama. Dinner & Overnight stay at “Fisherman’s Bay” 3*+ (Weligama).
Day 03: WELIGAMA – MIRISSA – WELIGAMA – BERUWELA
Early breakfast at the hotel. Leave for Mirissa Fisheries Harbour. Travel by boat on a Whale watching expedition. Blue Whales, the largest creature on earth as well as fin whales, sei whales, sperm whales, orcas (killer whales), dolphins, flying fish, turtles, manta rays and whale sharks can all be seen a few miles off the coast. p.m. Return to the hotel. Proceed to Beruwela. Stay at leisure / Enjoy Sun, Sea & Sand. Dinner & Overnight stay at “The Palms” 4* (Beruwela).
Day 04: BERUWELA
Breakfast at the hotel. Stay at leisure Dinner & Overnight stay at “The Palms” 4* (Beruwela).
Day 05: BERUWELA – COLOMBO – AIRPORT
Breakfast at the hotel. Stay at leisure / Enjoy Sun, Sea & Sand. p.m. Leave for Colombo. Enjoy a City Tour of Colombo (the Commercial Capital). Visit the popular Pettah Market. See old colonial buildings in Fort, old Parliament of Sri Lanka (presently the Presidential Secretariat). Also visit the popular Galle Face Green, a Hindu Kovil. See/visit a Buddhist Temple, a Catholic Church and a Muslim Mosque. See the Town Hall, Vihara Mahadevi Park, National Museum, the BMICH and the Buddha Statue nearby with a resemblance to the famous Avukana Buddha. Proceed to the Independence Square where the celebrations were held when Sri Lanka gained independence from the British in 1948. Visit the “Noritake” Showroom where the world famous Ceramic Ware could be purchased. This brand is produced in Sri Lanka under license of Noritake Japan. One of the primary specialties is that the items are much lighter than normal Ceramic Ware. Also visit famous Shopping Mall “ODEL” where internationally acclaimed branded clothing could be purchased for a fraction of their market prices. Proceed to the airport in time for the departure.
